Ben Goedegebuure to Serve as Global General Manager for Europe, Middle East and Africa

ST. LOUIS, MO (Feb. 25, 2014) Established industry leader, Ben Goedegebuure, has joined Maritz Travel Company – the top global service provider for the meeting, congress, conference and incentive travel industry – as global general manager of Europe, the Middle East and Africa. In this role, Goedegebuure will help lead the Maritz Travel Company Global Meetings Network, counsel and support current and future client engagements, and continue his and the company’s in-market industry advocacy, education and leadership efforts.

Goedegebuure is known for his collaborative spirit and ability to create meaningful partnerships throughout the industry. With a demonstrated history of effectively attracting international business, growing tourism efforts, and delivering exceptional experiences, Goedegebuure will continue to provide value across the corporate, association and tradeshow markets.

Goedegebuure is joined by two other Maritz Travel Company global general manager colleagues focused on complementary geographic markets: Ping He, a veteran member of Maritz Travel Company, representing Asia Pacific and Eduardo Chaillo, an extended member of the Maritz Travel Company team, representing Latin America and Mexico.

Goedegebuure will help further lead both Maritz Travel Company and its Global Meetings Network, including professional conference organizers, destination management companies, and other key relationships. This will ensure consistent quality in the design and delivery of programs that help transform client organizations and their people through the event experience.

About Ben Goedegebuure
Prior to joining Maritz Travel Company, Goedegebuure spent more than eight years at the Scottish Exhibition and Conference Centre (SECC) in Glasgow (UK), where he most recently served as director of sales. During his time at the SECC, he helped expand the organization’s global business, forged strategic partnerships with industry associations, such as the International Congress and Convention Association (ICCA), Association of Event Venues (AEV), Eventia and Professional Convention Management Association (PCMA), and was part of the team that launched SSE Hydro, Scotland’s national live event arena. Before his time at the SECC, Goedegebuure served as director of marketing and sales at Congrex Group.

Goedegebuure is known for his collaborative spirit and ability to create meaningful partnerships throughout the meeting, event and incentive travel industry. Currently, he serves on the advisory boards of The Americas Incentive, Business Travel and Meetings Exhibition (AIBTM) and International Confex, in addition to chairing PCMA’s Global Advisory Group. He led the Glasgow Tourism Service Initiative, “Glasgow Service with Style,” a public-private sector partnership developed to deliver a world-class tourism experience for the city, its visitors and businesses. In 2011, Goedegebuure became PCMA’s first non-North American board member.
