Corporate Responsibility
Maritz is dedicated to empowering people to reach their full potential and ensuring a solid and bright future for generations to come. At Maritz, we understand, enable and motivate people to unleash hidden human potential. We enable people to do things differently by developing their strengths, knowledge and confidence.
Because of our relentless focus on the development of people, we feel the best way Maritz, as a company, can have an impact in the communities in which we live and work is to align ourselves with educational endeavors. We demonstrate our commitment to human potential through philanthropic initiatives and partnerships with organizations offering programs designed to educate.
In addition to our monetary donations for educational purposes, Maritz people support the goals and objectives of our partner organizations through volunteerism, leveraging their personal talents and professional skill sets to further improve our communities.

Giving Guidelines
Education is the focus of Maritz’ giving. In addition, we partner with national organizations such as United Way and Teach For America to direct resources to local communities, as well as Fair Saint Louis/Celebrate St. Louis, a community event that unites the greater St. Louis region in a joint effort to promote the downtown St. Louis revitalization.
With few exceptions, our giving is concentrated in the focus area of education. We invest in philanthropic initiatives and partnerships with organizations offering programs designed to educate.
Contribution Consideration:
- We fund only organizations with an IRS exempt status under section 501(c)(3) that are fiscally sound with strong management practices and accountability.
- Maritz primarily supports initiatives within the greater St. Louis area where the majority of our employees are located.
- Maritz prefers programs that provide direct service to people and communities in need rather than event sponsorships such as golf, dinners, and galas.
- We prefer to make grants for specific projects with measurable results, rather than for general operating support and capital campaigns.
- We prefer not to support multiple-year pledge requests, but rather encourage grantees to re-apply annually.
- Generally, only one monetary donation will be given in a fiscal year to any organization.
-
It is important that grant applicants demonstrate the strategic link between their proposal and the focus of the Maritz community involvement program, i.e., education
.

Maritz recognizes that there is a broad range of organizations engaged in worthy activities, and we regret that we are unable to fund or support every request, application, proposal, or organization. Since Maritz receives funding requests that far exceed of our annual giving program budget, we must often decline to support worthy organizations and programs. Such a response does not reflect in any way a negative appraisal of the prospective organization or the value of its services.
